Drop The Chain FAQs: Are You Saving Money Doing This??
This question came directly from my Mom. She called DTC HQ to ask, “Nate—are you saving any money doing this?”
Not yet! And here’s the BONE-CHILLING reality: I probably won’t. Last week, I spent about 1.5x as much as I usually spend on lunch and takeout. The quality of the food has been way up though. I’m about even on groceries and household items. The books I bought were 20% off retail, which is competitive with Barnes and Noble but nowhere near Amazon.
DTC is about taking a step back from becoming DEAL CRAZED MONSTERS who value deals and the lowest possible price of goods and services over everything else. I don’t want to get ripped off obviously either, but spending an extra dollar or two in my community isn’t going to put me in financial ruin.
